(b. 1832), Kezia (b. 1835), Missouri (b. 1841), Elender (Ellen) (b. 1844), Elizabeth (b. 1846), William Garrison (b. 1837), Charlotte (b. 1850), Residence: 80 acre farm located on a branch of Hoover's Run, Jackson Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania Physical Description At Time of Enlistment: age 23 years, 5 feet 7 inches tall, of fair complexion with blue eyes and brown hair; occupation when enrolled, as a farmer. Service Record: Benjamin Geho, Private, enlisted on the 28th day of September, 1861 at Oak Forest, Pennsylvania for three years enlistment; 85th Regiment Pennsylvania Infantry, Company G. Reported as deserted on Muster Roll of November 11, 1861 from Camp Lafayette, Uniontown. Returned to his camp on March 27, 1862. April 30, 1862 by order of General Casey, was returned to duty without trial, but was ordered to forfeit all pay accruing to him while absent. Report of War Department: Said soldier (age 25 years) died June 14, 1864 at Chesapeake Hospital, Old Point Comfort, Virginia; from effect of wounds (rifle ball shot to lungs) received in action near Ware Bottom Church, during the Battle of Ft. Darling, Virginia May 20, 1864. Company was in action at said place on said date. Medical Treatment: first at Gill's Farm; transferred from U.S.A. Hospital Steamer Sylvan Shore , near Point of Rocks, Virginia on May 21, 1864 to Fort Monroe; final transfer to Chesapeake Hospital where death occurred on June 14, 1864. Burial (June 14-15, 1864) at the National Cemetery at Hampton, Virginia in grave # 532, under the name of GEHRE Pension papers #22624 contain affidavits that attest to the poor health of Benjamin's father, Adam Geho II, due to some type of back injury, for a period of time before 1864, and forward to his death in 1870. Benjamin was cited as a primary provider for the family before the war, and that his soldier's pay was sent home for the family's use, to supplement what the small farm could provide.
