C.W. MCCOLLOUGH, one of the most highly respected residents of this county, died at his home in Benton Township on Wednesday, February 8, 1905, at the age of 54 years, 5 months and 13 days, after a lingering illness with hardening of the liver. Largely attended funeral services conducted by Rev. F.B. Palmer were held at the Baptist Church in Chariton on Saturday morning at eleven o'clock, after which the remains were interred in the Chariton Cemetery. The pall bearers were his brothers, C.E. and W.H. MCCOLLOUGH of Humeston; J.T. of Concordia, Kas.; J.L. of Howe, Kas.; his brother-in-law, ISAAC TAYLOR of Derby, and his uncle, W.H. WEBSTER of Garden Grove. CANADA W. MCCOLLOUGH, son of MR. and MRS. THOS. MCCOLLOUGH was born in GREENE County, Pa. on August 20, 1850. He lived there until he was eighteen years of age when he moved with his mother to this county, where he has since resided. On Christmas day, December 25, 1873, he was married to MARY DORA who survives him. They were the parents of ten children, three of whom, CARL, FLOYD and LYON, died in infancy. Seven are living. They are MRS. DORA POWERS; WILLIAM; HALLIE; MERLE; FLOSSIE; RALPH and MARION. Eight years ago the family moved to the present house in Benton Township. MR. MCCOLLOUGH was converted and united with the First Baptist Church in Chariton in 18(?)(?). He has since lived an earnest Christian life, consistent with his profession. He was a devoted husband and father, a kind neighbor and friend, ever ready to help the needy or suffering.
