"Buck" Riggs, 67, of Star Route, Holbrook (Nettle Hill) died unexpectedly at 9:30 p.m. Thursday November 19, 1998, in his home. He was born October 14, 1931, in Springhill township, a son of Leslie Clarence and Mabel Ruby DeGarmo Riggs, and had been a resident of Greene County most of his life. Mr. Riggs was a former member of Mt. Carmel Church of God and James Farrell American Legion Post 330 of Waynesburg and a life member of Diabled Veterans Post 123 of Waynesburg. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving as a private with the U.S. Marine Corps in the 1st Battalion, 5th Marine, 1st Marine Division. Mrs. Riggs was a former foreman at V-Bat Plastic in Washington and a former employee of Washington Mold Co. He had also worked as an auto mechanic and for several years prior to his retirement in 1993 was a self-employed carpenter. For the past 16 years, he shared a home with Betty Lou Gaines Moore. Surviving are three sons, Michael Claude of Claysville and Ricky and Leslie Riggs of Fort Knox, Ky.; three daughters, Ruby Rooker of Grand Rapids, Mich., Rhonda Knapp of Fort Know and Stacey Kennedy of Bentleyville; two brothers, Robert Riggs of Tampa, Fla., and Harold Riggs of Washington; five sisters, Phyllis Morgan, Lois Barker and Marlene Kaske, all of Seattle, Wash., Donna Moore of Sanford, Fla., and Catherine Staggers of Prosperity; four stepchildren, Roger L. Moore at home, Ronald L. Moore of Westover, W.Va., Rosalee Moore of Rogersville and Dixie Berdine of LaCrosse, Wisc.; several grandchildren; and one step-granddaughter. Deceased are two sons, Ronald E. and Robert L. Riggs; a daughter, Kimberly Riggs; a brother Charles Eugene Riggs; and a sister Hazel Mellor.
