Smith, 68, of Carmichaels, died at 1:10 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 1937, in the Greene county Memorial Hospital.  Death was due to complications following a lingering illness. Deceased was born April 1, 1869, the son of Basil and Elizabeth Livengood Smith, and spent most of his life in the Carmichaels district. Surviving are his widow, Ella Blaker Smith; two sons, J. Frank and Basi? Smith, of Carmichaels; three daughters Mrs. Earl Long, Jefferson; Mrs. Elizabeth Morton and Mrs. Thurman Titus of Carmichaels; one brother, S. D. Smith, Waynesburg; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Fordyce of Fordyce, pa. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the home in Carmichaels.  Rev. Lew F. Johnson, pastor of the Carmichaels M. E. church, will officiate.  Burial will be in the Greene County Memorial park cemetery. (newspaper dated June 30, 1937)
