Part 1, Sections 1-5 ROSEMONT Cemetery, Rogersville, Center Twp, Greene Co, PA File submitted for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Bonnie Van Orden bonniev@rcvideo.com ******************************************************** USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by any other organization or persons. Persons or organizations desiring to use this material, must obtain the written consent of the contributor, or the legal representative of the submitter, and contact the listed USGenWeb archivist with proof of this consent. ********************************************************* Rosemont Cemetery is located on Rt. 18, east of Rogersville. Since the cemetery is large and rows are not easily determined, readings are being grouped in sections roughly defined by the roadways. Each entry represents one gravestone or one funeral home marker where there is no stone. Entries in quotation marks are inscriptions other than names or military service. Comments are in parentheses. An asterisk * indicates that the name also appears in the burial records for Rosemont published by Dorothy T. Hennen, Waynesburg, Pa., in "Cemetery Records of Greene County, Pennsylvania", Vol. 2, 1975, Center Twp., pp. 84-109. Military Markers are bronze medals placed near the stone with a designation of the period of service. ********************************************************* Section 1 This section was recorded April 29, 2000 and May 7, 2000. It is referred to in the plans of the cemetery as the "first addition", and is bordered by the bridge construction on Rt. 18, Rt. 18, and the eastern entrance to the cemetery from Rt. 18. There were six damaged or unreadable funeral home markers and five unreadable stones in this section. This section is the southern one-half of the area bordered by the eastern entrance to the cemetery from Rt. 18, Rt. 18, the second entrance from Rt. 18 to the cemetery from the east, and the connecting road to the eastern entrance. The beginning of this section is marked by a 6 foot monolith with the name "PATTERSON" and ends at Rt. 18. In this section there were two very old stones that could not be read. One stone was next to that for Rutha Frye. The other stone was next to that for George W. Davis and has a damaged Mariner & Milliken Funeral Home Marker for "Sarah Jane ......". ANDERSON Perry W. 1916-19 Betty M. 1928-1970 (appears to be the base for a monument--is rough and hand-lettered and difficult to read. Below the stone is a Clarke Funeral Home marker for Betty Anderson 1928-1970 and a Military Marker for World War 1941-1945) (reported in the first section by mistake) ANTILL Cecil 1913-1984 Blanche M. 1910-1978 BAINE Jacob R. 1881-1956 Rachel P. 1882-1969 BARNES Lucinda M. This section continues the readings west of the second entrance beginning with the row west of the row containing the 6 foot pink monument for WISE. Four to six rows were recorded each beginning at Rt. 18 and extending to the roadway at the back of the cemetery which is parallel to Rt. 18. The last row is in line with the utility pole on Rt. 18. In this section, there were three cement bases with no stones. Each entry represents one gravestone or one funeral home marker where there is no stone. Entries in quotation marks are inscriptions other than names or military service. Comments are in parentheses. An asterisk * indicates that the name also appears in the burial records for Rosemont published by Dorothy T.
