Mrs. Jennie Darrow died Thursday night, December 18, at her home northwest of Miller. She was past 71 years of age and was born in Pennsylvania. She came to Missouri when a young lady with her parents. The parents came to Jasper county where she lived a number of years but had lived at the home where she died for more than a quarter of a century. She was a member of the Baptist church and while she was quite unorthodox in her belief of the spirit and firm in her view of faith as a saving grace, she had risen above sectarianism. She was exceptionally energetic, had a strong moral courage and was very frank - one of the most candid women we ever knew. She left several nieces and nephews, one brother, John Grove of Jasper County and one son, Roy, to whom she was very much attached. She had been in ill health for many years, but the sickness that caused her death was only of four months duration. Rev. Tom Proctor of Miller preached an interesting funeral sermonat Round Grove to a large crowd and her body was placed to rest in the Round Grove cemetery. The relatives have our sympathy in their grief. We will miss her much and hope that death may be a door instead of a wall and that somewhere, sometime we may renew our friendship. A Friend (from the Miller Herald News, Aurora, Missouri Advertiser, Thursday, December 18, 1919) (note - her full name was Rebecca Jane Grove Mundell, born in Carmichaels, Pennsylvania)
