Following an illness of more than three years the death of John Bayard Mundell, a former Greene countian, occurred at the home of his son, S.W. Mundell, in Deadwood, S.D., Sunday, January 28, 1917. While in poor health for the past several years, Mr. Mundell was not taken seriously ill till about three weeks before the coming of the grim reaper when he suffered a paralytic stroke which, owing to his advanced years, made his recovery impossible. The deceased was born in Greene county, Pennsylvania, in 1840, moving to Nebraska in 1884, where he remained till 1908, when he removed to the Black Hills, S.D. He was a kindly, generous-hearted man esteemed and respected by all who knew him. His wife preceded him to the grave by a little over a year. He is survived by three sons and a daughter, Sherwood W., Harry S., and Albert E. Mundell, all residents of Deadwood, and Mrs. M.F. Maher, of Antioch, Nebraska.
