I, Wm Grove, of Center Township, Greene of County, Pennsylvania, being of sound mind, memory and understanding, William do make and proclaim this my last will and Testament, in manner Grove and form as follows -- After the payment of my just debts and funeral expenses, (Item 1st) I give and bequeath to my son Lindsey Grove, the farm or tract of land on which I now reside, containing about one Hundred and Twenty acres, adjoining lands of Wm. Carpenter, Soloman Eagon, Wm Hoge and Daniel Ornduff, the said farm to be charged with dower to my beloved wife Rebecca Grove, during her natural life, or while she remains my widow, and I value her dower interest in said farm at Two Thousand Dollars, the interest on which sum shall be paid to her by my son Lindsey Grove annually until she shall marry or die, and in either event, the return for simple interest therein shall vest in my son Lindsey Grove. (Item 2nd) I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Rebecca Grove Five Hundred Dollars in money, to be paid to her by my son Lindsey Grove within one year after my decease. (Item third) I also give and bequeath to my beloved wife Rebecca one half of all my household and kitchen furniture, including all personal property in my dwelling house. It is also my request and desire that my beloved wife shall live with my son Lindsey Grove on the farm aforesaid as long as they can do so consistently with their own pleasure. (And I hereby direct and require my son Lindsey Grove to furnish my beloved wife Rebecca, with all provisions and comforts and everything that may be necessary to her comfort and support, from the proceeds of the farm, charging her reasonable prices for the same to be deducted from the interest of the Two Thousand Dollars aforesaid. (Item Four) I give and bequeath to my son Lindsey Grove, in addition to the bequests aforesaid, twelve hundred Dollars in money, to be paid within one year after my decease. (Item Fifth) I give and bequeath to my son Lindsey Grove all my stock and farming utensils of every character whatsoever. (Item Sixth) I also give and bequeath to my son Lindsey Grove one half of all my household and kitchen furniture, which includes the personal property in my dwelling house. (Item Seventh) I give and bequeath to my son Lindsey Grove, one half of all my notes, Judgements, and obligations and money belonging to one and not already disposed of in this will. (Item Eigth) I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Grove the remaining one half of all my notes, judgements, obligations, and money not already disposed of in this Will. (Item Ninth) I give and bequeath to Wm Eddy, son of my daughter Bell Grove intermarried with Thomas Carpenter, the sum of One Dollar, which in addition to the sum of Forty Three Hundred Dollars advanced by me in the lifetime of my said daughter, who is now deceased, constitutes the full share I designed her to have in my estate. (Item Tenth) I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Grove further sum of one Dollar, which with the sum that I have advanced to him, and the bequests aforesaid constitutes the entire share I intend him to have in my estate. I further devise and direct as a part of this my Will, that in the event of the decease of my son Lindsey Grove, before arriving at the age of twenty-one years, without issue, then the bequests aforesaid shall be given to my son Thomas Grove absolutely. I hereby appoint and constitute my two sons Thomas and Lindsey Grove executors of this my last will and Testament, given under my hand seal this 24th day of November 1883. D. Crawford R.L. Crawford State of Pennsylvania} Greene County } Before me, Abner Ross, Deputy Register for the Probate of Wills and Granting Leters of Administration in and for said County, come R.L. Crawford, one of the two subscribing witness to the above and foregoing Will, who being sworn according to law, says that he was present and saw and heard William Grove the testator, sign, seal, pronounce and declare the foregoing instrument of writing, as and for his last will and testament, and at the time of so doing, he was of sound mind, memory and understanding to the best of his knowledge and belief, and that they signed the same as witnesses at his request, in his presence, and in the presence of each other. sworn and subscribed this 21st day Dec 1889 R.L. Crawford Abner Ross Deputy Register State of Pennsylvania} Greene County} Before me Abner Ross, Deputy Register for the Probate of Wills and Granting letters of Administration came D.R. P. Huss, who being duly sworn according to law says that he was well acquainted with D. Crawford, and also that he is well and intimately acquainted with the hand writing of said D. Crawford, attesting witness to the foregoing Will, and also that his signature thereto is genuine, as he verrily believes. Sworn & Subscribed before me this 21st day of Dec. 1889 D.R. P. Huss Abner Ross Deputy Register Codicil ------- In addition to the above Will made on the twenty fourth day of November 1883 and as since that date I have purchased a farm of Henry Church Containing about Eighty-four acres and joining lands of Wm Hoge, John Lightner, Thomas Wells, Wm Grinage, Robert Watson & others, and wishing to dispose of it I will it to my two sons Thomas Grove & Lindsey Grove to be equally divided between them. After considering the matter of the above twelve Hundred dollars willed to my son Lindsey, I think it is to be more than his share. I now direct it to be only five hundred dollars the amount he is to pay his mother and after taking the above Five Hundred Dollars out of my money for Lindsey, I will that all my money, Judgements, notes, or accounts of any kind shall be equally divided between my two sons Thomas Grove & Lindsey Grove. In testimony hereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 3rd day of January 1889. Stockdale State of Pennsylvania} Greene County } Before me, Abner Ross Deputy Register for the Probate of Wills and Granting Letters of Administration in, and for said County, came Jonathan Mitchell & Rob't F. Stockdale the two subscribing witnesses to the above and foregoing Codicil to Will, who, being sworn according to law, say that they were present, and saw and heard William Grove the Testator, sign, seal, publish, pronounce and declare the foregoing instrument of writing, as and for a Codicil to his last Will and Testament, and at the time of so doing he was of sound mind, memory and and understanding to the best of their knowledge and belief, and that they signed the same as witnesses at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other. sworn and subscribed this} J.
