We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. ____________________________________________________________ Esther Layton Gwynne (listed as Hester in the DAR Patriot Index), left the following (filed as Esther Gwyne, Will Book 2, p44, #770) will: I, Esther Gwynne of Cumberland Township, Greene County, and state of Pennsylvania being weak of body but of a sound mind and memory, and knowing the uncertainty of time here, and that all human beings are born to die, and being by Divine Providence blessed with a portion of property that I wish to dispose of in the following manner viz. 1st It is my will that all my just debts and funeral expenses be first paid, 2nd I will and bequeath unto my son James Gwynne the sum of one dollar with what he has received and no more 3rd I will and bequeath unto my sons Joseph and Alfred the sum of one dollar each together with what they have received and no more, 4th I will and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Dowlin the sum of one dollar in full as above legacies 5th I will and bequeath unto my daughter Susannah Long all my wearing apparel after my death as her share 6th I will and bequeath unto my grandson Josephus, one horse, saddle and bridle and bedstead, bed and bedding for one bed 7th I will and bequeath unto my grandson James Long the sum of twenty dollars to be put in interest until he becomes of age and the residue of my property if any there be I wish to be sold to the best advantage and the money arising equally divided between my daughters Serena Long, Martha Seaton, Anna Richey, Esther Kinsey, and grandson Josephus share and share alike. And lastly I hereby do appoint my cherished friend Charles Swan to be my executor to audit and settle my estate according to law and in the presence of the subscribing witnesses I do acknowledge this and no other to be my last will and testament. Witness my hand and seal this fifty day of April 1834 Attest William Baily Jesse K. Baily Furthermore, it is my will that in addition to what I have above stated willed to my grandson Josephus, I will and bequeath unto him my rifle gun powder horn and shot pouch and three yearling steer calves.
