William Hart Will, No. 1688, Page 211, Greene County Will Book #3 I William Hart of Monongahela Township Greene County, make this my last Will and Testament. First, I direct a decent christian burial and that all my just debts and funeral expenses. Secondly, I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Rachel a good and comfortable living of our home place, whether boarding, clothing, medical attendance and funeral expenses. I also will and bequeath to her the interest of what money I may have on hand at my death or what money may be due me from other persons after paying the several legacies given in this will which interest she is to have and receive during her life. Thirdly, I will and direct that my executors sell the farm which I bough t of Lewis Evans containing about ninety acres, which adjoins Noah Minor's heirs and when the money is paid to make a deed for the same to the purchaser, and that they pay out of the first money received for the same one thousand dollars to my son Nelson Hart or his heirs. Fourth, I will and direct that my executors shall make a deed to my son, William Hart for one hundred and forty-nine acres and one hundred and ten perches of the land I bought of Joseph Hammers, on which he now lives, the same having been run off to him my John L. Crawford, upon his paying up to my executors, the unpaid balance on an article of agreement between him and me excepting three hundred and fifty dollars which falls due after his three aunts shall die, from which I fully release and discharge him from the payment thereof, and I will and direct that my executors pay to him in one year after my decease one hundred and fifty dollars. Fifth, I will and direct that Evan Hart one of my executors make a deed to Jacob Hart for one hundred and forty-nine acres and one hundred and ten perches, being the East part of the land I bought of Joseph Hammers on which he now lives and was lately run off by J.L. Crawford, upon his paying to my estate the unpaid money on an article between him and me for the same, excepting three hundred and fifty dollars which falls due after the death of his three aunts, from which I fully release and discharge him from the payment of said $350, and I further will and bequeath to him the sum of three hundred dollars, to be paid to him in one year after my decease. Sixth, I will and bequeath to my son Joseph Hart a good and comfortable living, in boarding, clothing, medical attendance and funeral expenses, out of my home place, which support I do hereby charge upon the same. Seventh, I will and bequeath to my son Evan Hart the Home farm where I now live, subject to the support of my wife Rachel and son Joseph as aforesaid and in the event that my wife Rachel and son Evan should not agree, then she is to have the control of the farm during her life, and all the surplus that shall be made on it beyond what keeps my wife and son, shall be Evan's. I likewise direct that my household and kitchen furniture, farming utensils and stock that I may have on hand, be and remain on the farm, and whatever shall remain after the death of my wife and son Joseph shall go to and belong to my son Evan. Eight, Whatever may remain of the proceeds of the Minor farm, cash on hand and other money after my wife's death shall be equally divided between my children share and share alike. Ninth, I hereby appoint my sons Jacob and Evan to execute this will and make the deeds as herein directed. In testimony whereof I have set my hand and seal this 10 October 1854. Downey and Alfred Myers Esqrs., who on their solemn affirmations did say that they were present saw and heard William Hart the Testator within named, sign, seal, publish and declare the within Indenture to be his last Will and Testament, that at the time of his signing the same he was of sound mind and disposing memory to the best of their knowledge, observation and belief that they signed the same as witnesses in his presence and at his request.
