Garage: A large man and one who does business in a large way is William Edward Anderson. Proprietor of the Petersburg Garage. He was born at Neff's Mills, April 6, 1873, and at Neff's Mills first learned his first lessons along educational lines. Is a son of John Crawford Anderson and Jennie (Dougherty) Anderson, of McAlevy's Fort, Huntingdon County, Pa. The father died in 1904. The mother died in 1923. The business he is engaged in was bought from J. Elmer Young, of Petersburg, Pa., in 1916. In 1920 he bought the property. His garage can accommodate fifteen cars. Keeps a service car for emergency, sells the Reo, Pontiac, and Oakland cars, has two gasoline pumps, sells accessories, oils, tires, tubes, etc. He was in the hardware business at Petersburg, Pa., the milling business at Porter's Mills, and the hotel business at Petersburg, Pa. Belongs to Methodist church. Served on town council for six years, Petersburg, Pa. President of Petersburg and Logan Township School Association. Is a Democrat, an Odd Fellow, NO. 1162, Petersburg, Pa. Belongs to Huntingdon Motor Club, affiliated with the A.A.A. of America; also the Penna. Automotive Association. Has two brothers, John M., Huntingdon, Pa., foreman in P.R.R. yards; Jesse W., Pittsburgh, P., Chief Clerk American Express Company. Three brothers deceased; Albert and Harry died in infancy; Sydney died at the age of eighteen; sister, May, recently married to Mr. Snare, with Penna. Industrial Reformatory. Bertha, married to Lawrence Casner, foreman P.R.R., Monongahela, Pa. Mr. Anderson was married to Mary Withington, Shirleysburg, Pa. Three sons: Phillip K., married to Margaret Hawn; Elizabeth, New Jersey. Thomas E., clerk Petersburg Hardware Company. Edward W., at home, attends seventh grade school. Daughters: Rebecca, married to Lynn Mitchell, McAlevy's Fort, Pa. Ella May, in High School, a Junior. Mr. Anderson enjoys a lucrative business.
