D. BEHEL Blair's Mills, Huntingdon Co., Pa. Mortician: W. D. Behel was born near Nossville, Huntingdon Co., Pa., Nov. 15, 1844, on a farm. A son of James R. Behel, who was a farmer all his life; he owned a farm. Both he and his wife are deceased. They were of German-Scotch descent. W. D. Behel attended the McCabe school in Juniata county. He is a notary public, serving his second term. He has been a funeral director for thirty-two years. In 1923 his son, W. L. Behel, joined him in partnership. W. L. Behel was with J. H. Fretz, a funeral director of Lewistown, Pa., for a period of three years. He has two sisters: Jane Ann, married to Wm. Lacey, both deceased; Rhoada Ann, married to Wesley Devinney, both deceased. W. D. Behel was married to Angeline Fortney, a daughter of James and Rachel Fortney; at the time of her marriage she lived at Waterloo, Juniata Co., Pa. They have three sons: Hiram, married to Maude Shearer, Hawstone, Pa.; George Ambrose, married to Grace Diven, Lewistown, Pa.; W. L., at home, in partnership with his father in funeral directing. Daughters are: Cena J., married to Frank Ellis, Lewistown, Pa.; Rhoda, married to C. L. Mowery, Lewistown, Pa.; Lillie May, married to Elmer Chilcoat, Lewistown, Pa.; Verna, married to David McMeen, Assistant Cashier Tuscarora Bank, Blair's Mills, Pa. Mr. Behel is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and is well and favorably known.
