RITNER BLACK Orbisonia, Pa. Coal Dealer: A prominent business man and one who fills a long felt want is that of W. R. Black, who was born in Carbon township, Huntingdon Co., Pa., Aug. 7, 1884. At Oak Grove, Clay township, is where he first began to receive a preliminary education. A son of Jacob and Kathryn (Watkins) Black, now residing at Rock Hill, Huntingdon Co., Pa. W. R. Black taught school for three years at Wood Post Office, Huntingdon Co., Pa.; one year at Robertsdale, Pa. Was also employed with the E.B.T.R.R.; was agent at Shade Gap, Huntingdon Co., Pa., for fourteen years. Two and one-half years for the P.R.R. at Pittsburgh, Pa., in freight office. Was auditor of Dublin township; served on election board. Belongs to the Presbyterian church; fifteen years a trustee at Orbisonia and Shade Gap, also teacher and Sunday School superintendent for seventeen years, boys' and men's class. At present he is a dealer in building material, coal, etc. He is a Past Grand of the I.O.O.F., 773, Orbisonia, Pa. A Republican. Fire Company of Rockhill and Orbisonia; also Chamber of Commerce. One brother, Cloyd Black, New Grenada, Pa. Mr. W. R. Black was married to Lough Bair. Children are: Wade R., seven years, at school; John, five; Mary, three, and Victor, one year. Mr. Black delights in deer hunting and base ball when opportunity permits. Is a member of the Huntingdon County Game, Fish and Forestry Association.
