The subject of this sketch is a much traveled man, having plied his trade extensively over a large section of country. Thomas Booher was born at Beersville, Huntingdon County, Pa., August 29, 1885. Began his schooling in Fulton County, near Fort Littleton. His grandfather was John Booher. His grandmother, Jane Duffey. The Duffeys were among those in the gold rush to California in 1849. The father of Thomas Booher was Samuel Booher. Born in 1846, a bridge builder and stone cutter; died September 20, 1928. The mother was Mary J. McKelvey, of Franklin County; born in 1852, died April 5, 1924; of Irish-German descent. For over thirty years Thomas Booher has followed his trade of stonemason and bricklayer, executing fine work. Helped erect power plant at Saxton, Pa. Ten years with Harbison-Walker Refractories Company, Mount Union, Pa. Employed at Burnham Steel Company, built arch bridge on Petersburg Branch; also with the Coppers Coke Company, Clairton, Pa.; helped erect arch bridge at New Castle, Pa. Worked on five school houses in one summer; was employed with Wilson and Company in erecting the Abbey Reformed Church, Huntingdon, Pa. A beautiful edifice, gothic design. An Odd Fellow for twenty-three years, No. 677. A Democrat. Belongs to Church of the Brethren. Orbisonia, Pa.; attends Sunday School. Has farmed some; owns a farm, and when not employed oversees its operation. Has three brothers; John F. married to Sadie Webb, wife deceased; Harry S. married to Flora Cochanour; resides in Germany Valley, Huntingdon Co., Pa.; Elder O., married to Vera Heck, Mapleton, Pa. Two sisters; Minnie, married to George Wilson, resides one mile from Orbisonia, Pa.; Ella, married to Robert Jacka, Orbisonia, Pa.; Carrie M., Ruby, Jennie and Logan are deceased, as are also Willie, died in infancy; Bessie Viola, two years, deceased. Charles died at the age of thirteen years. Thomas Booher owns extensive real estate and has been very successful.
