G. BURKETT Warriorsmark, Pa. Justice of the Peace: Born at Warriorsmark, Huntingdon County, Pa., March 28, 1873. A son of Wm. Burkett, who was a carpenter for most of his life. He was a Civil War Veteran, Penna. Vol. Inf., died at the age of seventy-five years. He married Ellen Nearhoof, deceased, at the age of seventy-six years. Her mother was ninety-three years of age at death. The Burketts and Nearhoffs have for many years been residents of this section. 'Squire Burkett received his first experience at schooling at Warriorsmark, Huntingdon County, Pa.; he later attended the Lock Haven State Normal School. From his father he learned the carpenter trade. For a part of his life has been a contract carpenter. He built the Warriorsmark school. He succeeded 'Squire David Funk as Justice of the Peace eight years ago. He was Mercantile Appraiser for the county, and was secretary and treasurer for road supervisors. A Methodist, his wife also, Was on School Board; at present is clerk on election board; was secretary and treasurer of water company. He has two sisters: Nannie, wife of Wilson Conrad, farmers, live on the Burkett homestead; Alice, married to Thomas Gates, farmers, Warriorsmark, Pa. 'Squire Burkett was married to Mary Kinch, a daughter of Henry and Rebecca Kinch. Both are deceased. Mary Kinch's parents are Henry Kinch, a blacksmith, died at the age of sixty-eight years; her mother before marriage wqas Rebecca Nash, died at the age of fifty-five years. They were old settlers of that section. Her brothers are Wm. F. Kinch, a butcher, Warriorsmark, Pa.; Anderson Kinch, a road supervisor; has three sisters: Mrs. Juniata Rabold, Altoona, Pa. One brother deceased, Harry; one sister deceased, Blanche.
