BUTLER Alexandria, Pa. Foreman: Born at Barree, Huntingdon Co., Pa., on a farm, Feb. 6, 1897. A son of Curtin Butler, a woodsman and farmer, and of Flora (Snyder) Butler. They reside at Barree, Huntingdon Co., Pa. Russell O. Butler was raised on a farm, stayed there until the age of seventeen years. He has done construction work for five years. At present is a foreman at Clay Mill at Alexandria, Pa. He was engaged at farming till entering the World War. His grandfather was a Civil War veteran. Russell Butler served in the World War; enlisted July 14, 1917, at Huntingdon, Pa., and was assigned to Co. F, 8th Penna. Inf. Went to Camp Hancock, Augusta, Ga., on Sept. 12, 1917; assigned to Co. F, 112th Penna. Inf.; was transferred from Co. F to 308th Remount Depot; at Belair, Ga., from Dec. 12th 1917, till March, 1919; was discharged at Camp Hancock, Ga., with a total service of twenty months. Entered as private, finished as Sergeant Quartermaster. He is Commander of Wm. P. Spyker Post No. 520, Alexandria, Pa. Wm. P. Spyker, whom the post is named after, was killed in France. Was first man killed in Company. Russell Butler and wife belong to the Methodist Church. He is a steward. He is a Republican in politics. He has four brothers: Emanuel, a foreman, Altoona, Pa., was married to Marie Gutshall; they have four children. Other brothers are John, Alexandria, Pa., an auto mechanic; is married to Myrtle Smith. Thomas, of Altoona, Pa., and Curtin, Jr., at home. He has one sister Clara, married to Jesse Kensinger; one sister is deceased; died in infancy, Russell O. Butler was married to Fannie Brown, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L.T. Brown. They live at Augusta, Ga.. Mr. and Mrs. Butler have two sons, Russell Thomas, nine years, and Curtis Townsend, eight years. Both attend the grade schools. One daughter deceased, Frances Elonza; died in infancy.
