Chief Clerk, Pennsylvania Glass Sand Corporation: Every community has a type of men who can be depended upon to uphold its honor, and a representative citizen, and one who did much to advance its cause, is that of Ralph Newton Corbin, the subject of this sketch. Mr. Corbin was born at Mapleton Depot, November 22, 1895, and began his early schooling at the above-named place. His father is Jesse Emory Corbin, first son of Lewis C. Corbin. His mother's maiden name was Elsie Lucretia Cavenaugh. Both parents are still living, at Mapleton Depot, and are much respected citizens. Ralph Corbin graduated from the Mapleton High School in 1912, served in that great conflict the World War, and was one year and three months in the service, one year of which was spent in France, in the Infantry arm of the service, Company M, 164th Regiment, 41st Division. Became a member of the P.O.S. of A., Camp 59; District President, 1924 and 1925; was County President of the same order in 1927, and at present the Recording Secretary; a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary, P.O. of A., No. 171; also and Odd Fellow, No. 468; is Treasurer of the Christian Endeavor Society, Financial Secretary and Treasurer of the United Brethren Church; Class Leader in 1927. A teacher of twenty boys in the Sunday school, from twelve to seventeen years of age. A chorister of the same church. His brothers and sisters are as follows: Roy A. and Charles W. are twins; John L, Alda M., Emma M., Miles E., Delma R. Preston J. and Harry E., two children, died in infancy. On July 12, 1924, he was married to Hattie M. Dell, of Mapleton by Rev. J. A. Mills. Two sons have come of this union, Ronald Leon, born May 19, 1925, and Wallace Mark, born August 21, 1927. At present Ralph Corbin is the Chief Clerk in the works office of Pennsylvania Glass Sand Corporation of Mapleton, Pa. Truly a well spent life.
