Postmaster and Merchant: The subject of this sketch, Beaver Cornelius, was born at Saltillo, Pa., September 15, 1889, a son of Edward C. and Annie (Hudson) Cornelius. Both living, of Irish ancestry. The father of Edward C. Cornelius was Walter Cornelius. Over one hundred years ago the Cornelius clan first came to this section. Beaver Cornelius was educated at Saltillo, Huntingdon County, Pa. For eleven years he was a clerk for H. E. Huston; later appointed Postmaster in 1920, under Wilson's last administration. In connection with being Postmaster, conducts a mercantile business, groceries, general hardware, shoes, notions, etc. Hs served on school board for fifteen years. Belongs to Masonic fraternity, Cromwell Lodge, No. 572, Orbisonia, Pa. A Republican in politics. Has three brothers, Arthur, Youngstown, Ohio; Ira, married to Myrtle Barnett, Youngstown, Ohio; Clarence, married to Clara Sollers, Saltillo. Sisters are Edith, Altoona, Pa.; Pauline, married to William Querry, Calvin, Pa, a farmer. Beaver Cornelius was married to Vesta Madden, of Orbisonia, Pa. Two sons, Wilford, a High School sophomore; Edwin, also a sophomore at High School. Mr. Cornelius is one of those dependable business men that benefit a community.
