CORNELIUS Mount Union, Pa. Police Officer: Was born at Cassville, Huntingdon County, Pa., May 10, 1891. A son of Sherman Cornelius, who was a foreman of the United States Refractories Company for eleven years, and died in 1927 at the age of fifty- four years. He married Ida J. Crosley, now living at Mount Union, Pa. His grandfather was a Civil War veteran. David F. Cornelius attended the Washington School of Cass Township, also the Pine Grove School of New Grenada, Fulton County, Pa. He was with the Penn Central Light and Power Company for a period of five years; also with the Harbison and Walker Refractories Company of Mount Union, Pa., for a period of three years. Is an electrician. Was a police officer at the Methodist Training Camp at Newton Hamilton, campmeeting ground. He is a member of the Methodist Church of Mount Union, Pa. His wife is a member of the Church of the Brethren in Germany Valley. He is a World War veteran, and enlisted at Huntingdon, Pa., and was sent to Camp Lee, Virginia. Assigned to Company D, 83rd Division; there for six weeks; went to Newport News, Virginia, and boarded vessel (Matauaska), a German interned vessel; landed at Brest, France, and was ten days on voyage; assisted in unloading vessel of supplies; was in rest camp for one week; went to La Maus; there for one-half day; went to Bon-a-table, a machine gun school. At this point armistice was signed; there for three months; was qualified Military Police; left for U.S.A. on (Mercury), landed at Norfolk, Virginia; discharged at Camp Dix, New Jersey; last assignment 260th M.P. CO, total service of one year. He is a Republican. Two brothers, Arthur, married to Rilla Mills, Altoona, Pa.; Robert, Altoona, Pa. Two sisters, Ethel, married to Dewey Chilcoate, Mount Union, Pa.; Mabel, married to Clarence Price, Mount Union. David F. Cornelius was married to Rebecca Morrow, daughter of Chambers and Clara Morrow, of Shirleysburg, Pa. Both deceased.
