Sergeant of Police, Penna. R.R.: A tall, well built muscular man, with a firm chin, which denotes determination, might well form the appearance of Charles Raymond Cutshall. He first saw the light of day in Springfield Township, Huntingdon County, Pa., on April 20, 1884, and at the public schools of Springfield Township began his early training, of which in after life he trained others along educational lines. He attended the Rock Hill Normal and Select School in 1901, and at that time it was a very popular school. He taught school for ten terms, at Cole's Summit, Cook's Mills, Newburg, Maddensville and Mill Creek, he being no novice at the teaching profession. His father was George McClellan Cutshall, now deceased. His mother, Lou Emma Cutshall, resides at Altoona, Pa. Mr. Charles Cutshall has served six years on the school board of Mill Creek borough. Inspector three terms, clerk two terms. A strong Republican. Belongs to I.O.O.F., No. 677, Mt. Union, Pa., John C. Ross Encampment No. 201. Two brothers are living, Lloyd and Richard, of Altoona, and George is deceased. Two sisters, Mrs. Naomi Cline, of Altoona, Pa., and Mrs. Della Bailey, of Mapleton, Pa. He was married to Cula Pearle Anderson. Three children of this union, Janvier Anderson, High School pupil; Raymond Anderson, eleven years, at school and Russell Herkness, aged five, at home. Mr. Cutshall is a member of the Mount Union Fire Company, No. 1, and of the State Firemen's Association. A Methodist, and Sunday School pupil. In 1912 he entered the employ of the Penna. R.R. as a policeman; in 1918 was made a Sergeant of Police, Middle Division, a position which he now holds; resides at 38 East Pennsylvania Avenue, Mount Union. Sergeant Cutshall has made an efficient and forceful officer.
