DAVIS Spruce Creek, Pa. Postmistress: Miss Mary K. Davis was born at Colerain Forge, and raised on a farm. At Cool Run school, she began her school career. A daughter of Thomas Davis, a farmer for most of his life, Irish-Welsh descent; a member of the Presbyterian church Died in 1905, aged seventy-two years. His wife was Christiana Spiece, a daughter of Christian and Christiana Spiece; died 1919, aged eighty-four years; German descent. Mary K. Davis attended the public school at Colerain; also at the Lock Haven State Teachers' College. By February 1st, 1930, she will have served fifteen years as postmistress at Spruce Creek, Pa. She is Auditor of Spruce Creek. Belongs to the Presbyterian Church, Spruce Creek, and is a member of the Eastern Star, No. 608, Tyrone, Pa. In politics she is a Democrat. She has two brothers, Orr L., a widower; Chal, married to Bessie Kocher, Warriorsmark, Pa. Two brothers are deceased, Edward, whose wife is living at Spruce Creek, Pa., and Scott, his wife living at Altoona, Pa. Sisters are: Anna, who died in 1928; was married to Dr. T. C. Peterson, Spruce Creek, Pa.; Christine, at home; Margaret, married to H.W. Henderson, Spruce Creek, Pa. Miss Davis in her capacity of postmistress has given complete service to the public. Comes from a family who can trace their ancestry back many years.
