E. DAVIS Shirleysburg, Pa. Merchant: R. E. Davis was born at Chest Springs, Cambria County, Pa., May 24, 1884. He is a son of Elliott Davis, who was a lumberman all his life; had saw mills. He died November 15, 1915, at the age of sixty-two years. His wife was Elizabeth Belton, who died in 1905, at the age of fifty-four years. R. E. Davis began his schooling at Chest Springs, Cambria County, Pa., and attended the Neeelyton township school. He followed various kinds of work; was farmer in Juniata County for eleven years, general farming. Had a farm in Mifflin County, Pa., of 154 acres; disposed of same; located at Shirleysburg, where he started a grocery store. He belongs to the Methodist Episcopal Church, Shirleysburg, Pa.; formerly belonged to McCabe Chapel Church of Juniata County, Pa. A Republican in politics. He has two sisters, deceased. Ettie died at the age of seven years, and Sadie at the age of seventeen years. He was married to Emma Bard, a daughter of Stewart and Mary Bard, who reside on Milford Street, Mount Union, Pa. Mr. and Mrs. Davis have one son, Wayne, aged fourteen years, attending school. Two daughters, Helen, twelve years of age, and Mabel, seven years. Both attend school. Mr. Davis conducts a first-class grocery store and has succeeded in building up a fast growing business. Note: First name is Ralph, according to the 1930 Shirleysburg, Huntingdon County, PA, census.
