Retired: Born at Centre Union, Huntingdon Co., Pa., Sept. 28, 1848. A son of Samuel Decker, a farmer. Owned a farm of 185 acres. He is deceased; died at the age of seventy-seven years. Alvin Decker, after a preliminary education at Donation, Huntingdon Co., Pa., attended the Pine Grove school in Union township. He followed various pursuits, and was with the Mapleton sand companies for a period of time. He moved to Mapleton in 1905, and had a dray wagon for fifteen years. A good part of his life was spent on the farm. For the past two years he has been retired. He has held the office of Supervisor for two terms. He is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. His wife also when living. He has two brothers: Howard, Huntingdon, Pa., married to Sarah Wentzel. She is deceased. Charles W., deceased; also Marshall H. Sisters are: Minerva, first married to James Shoup. He is deceased; she remarried to Quincy Dell. He is deceased. Elizabeth Jane was married to Allen Shoup. Both are deceased. Alvin Decker was married to Jennie Curfman; she died in 1927. Mr. Decker is a respected citizen of Mapleton, where he resides, and owns his home, and now in the evening of his life can look back over a life well spent, although to-day finds him enjoying good health and interested in affairs in general.
