DIEHL Broad Top City Coal Operator: He was born at Ray's Hill, a son of Jonathan C. Diehl; the mother is deceased. His early school career was at Kearney, Pa., followed up by an attendance at Juniata College. He has been engaged at coal mining and is part owner of a coal mine. He is a World War Veteran. Enlisted at Huntingdon, Pa., September 5th, 1918; went to Camp Greenleaf, Georgia; placed in Medical Corps; went to Camp Merritt, in evacuation hospital unit; was stricken with sickness; left company, and was employed in hospital at Camp Merritt; from thence to Camp Lee, Virginia; discharged December 16, 1918. He is a member of the Watson-Black American Legion Post, No. 126, of Broad Top City; a member of the Red Men, as he says, went through all stumps; I.O.O.F., filled all chairs, and also the L.O.O.M. He has served as clerk on the election board, and is Secretary of Broad Top City Borough Council. He has two brothers: John C. Diehl, Kearney, Pa.; George L. Diehl, Toledo, Ohio. He is married, and has one daughter, Gladys Hazel. He delights in fishing and baseball. As to politics, he is a Republican.
