Retired: Oliver Diven was born in Juniata Co., Pa., at East Waterford, on March 10, 1868, a son of James Diven, who died at the age of seventy-six years, and of Rebecca (Oakman) Diven, who died at the age of seventy-four years. At Shade Gap, Huntingdon Co., Pa., he received his education. He lived in Shirleysburg for five years. He was in the hotel and livery business at Shade Gap for twenty-two years; with the East Broad Top R.R. Co.; in ore mines at Shade Gap. At present he is retired. Was constable one term for Dublin township; on election board in Dublin and Shirley townships. A charter member of the P.O.S. of A., at Shade Gap. He is a Democrat. One brother, Howard, deceased; died at the age of fifty-nine years; two half-brothers; Daniel Diven, a Civil War veteran; he is deceased. Henry Diven, in regular standing army. Sisters are: Mary E. Diven, deceased. Half-sisters are: Mattie Laporte, deceased; a daughter teaches school at Birmingham, Pa.; Sarah Ann, married to David Kough; both are deceased. Oliver Diven was married to Minnie Wagner, a daughter of William and Mary Wagner, of Three Springs, Huntingdon Co., Pa.
