Superintendent, McKelvey Bros. Lumber Company: One who is well versed in the lumber business and well acquainted with the minutest detail, is that of Frank Laurence Dixon. McAlevy's Fort was his birthplace, and at Greenwood Furnace and McAlevy's Fort he acquired his first schooling, and at the University of Kansas he rounded out his education. Mr. Dixon is a son of Darius R. Dixon and Annie M. (DeArmitt) Dixon, both living, of Irish nationality. Mr. Frank Dixon is a veteran of the World War. Enlisted in the Army August 24, 1909, and was discharged August 23, 1912. Re-enlisted June 27, 1916; discharged June 6, 1919. Served on the Mexican border, and for duration of war; was in the Military Intelligence Department for a period of four years. Discharged as Sergeant of the 52nd Field Artillery. After his discharge from the Army he entered the employ of McKelvey Bros.; extensive lumber industries, who operate a chain of saw mills, and wholesale and retail lumber. Mr. Dixon, looking after thie interests, is the superintendent of the Orbisonia plant. For ten years connected with this firm. A Republican in politics. Mr. Dixon married Hazel Gertrude Heeps, of Orbisonia; they have one son, James Laurence, three years of age. Through a thorough knowledge of the lumber business, Mr. Dixon occupies a commanding position in this manufacturing line.
