EDWIN EARL DUNKELBERGER Orbisonia, Pa. Minister United Brethren Church: The nation needs more men with the calibre and knowledge to go out into the highways and byways to combat the forces of sin, which is so prevalent, and this is the mission of the Rev. Edwin Earl Dunkelberger, the United Brethren Minister of Orbisonia. He was born at Richfield, Juniata County, March 24, 1888, and at the Richfield Academy began his future career. Prior to entering the ministry he conducted a mail route between Mifflintown and Selinsgrove, Pa. He is a son of Phares Dunkelberger, who died, 1888, and Maggie Hertz, who died in 1927. The grandparents were Benjamin Dunkelberger and Elizabeth Dunkelberger. Prior to entering the ministry he took a four-year course at Moody Institute, Chicago, Ill. This institution alone is a guarantee of his fitness, also a four year denominational [sic] course before ordination. He has four charges: Orbisonia, Mr. Nebo, Salem and Pleasant Hill. He has served for three years on the Election Board. Belonged to National Guards for two years under Captain Corbin, of Huntingdon, Pa. Belongs to I.O.O.F. of Orbisonia, and P.O.S. of A., Orbisonia. A Republican. One half brother, Park Dunkleberger. Two half sisters: Victorine Gill, and Elizabeth Kline, McClure, Pa.; Rev. Dunkelberger was married to Alice Lyter, of Lewistown, Pa. Have three daughters: Margaret, graduated from the Orbisonia High School; Ruth and Irene, at home, at school; the former twelve years and the latter ten years. Two sons: Joseph, at Lewistown, Pa., and Oscar, at Herndon, Pa. Rev. Dunkelberger has gained the confidence of his parishioners, and they are loyal to his teaching.
