Tonsorial Artist: Born June 23, 1875, at Dudley, Pa. A son of Henry Dunlap, South Huntingdon, Pa., a Civil War veteran, Co. A, 22nd Penna. Cavalry, now retired, aged eighty-seven years. For twenty-two years was a railroad engineer for the Huntingdon and Broad Top R.R. and later a stationary engineer. His wife was Margaret Jane Thompson, a daughter of Frederick and Elizabeth Thompson, of Scotch-Irish parentage; died February 16, 1912. Herman Guy Dunlap, previous to taking up his profession as a barber, was a carpenter. Learned his profession as barber under Guy Graham, an expert in his line. For thirty-three years Mr. Dunlap has occupied the same location, 738 1/2 Washington Street, Huntingdon, Pa. Both he and his wife are members of the First Methodist Church and Sunday School; also of the Union Sunday School in South Huntingdon, Pa. He belongs to the Junior O.U.A.M., No. 449; Horace Porter Camp, Sons of Veterans, and Modern Woodmen, No. 7948, and in politics is a Republican. Has two sisters, Edna and Elva, at home. Herman Guy Dunlap was married to Lula Gertrude Numer, a daughter of George and Rebecca Numer. They have four sons: George H., married to Helen Crill, Bethlehem, Pa., in dairy business; Donald, at home, assists his father in business; Chester R., at home; Kenneth, at home, a Freshman at High School. Two daughters: Ada G. was married to Earl Hockenberry; she died in 1927, aged twenty-nine years. They had three sons and one daughter. Gertrude, another daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dunlap, is a graduate of the Huntingdon High School, class of 1929.
