Retired: In recording the deeds and achievements of Huntingdon County's prominent citizens, mention is made of the activities of Orbisonia's leading citizen, Mr. Samuel Ora Fraker. Mr. Fraker has led a busy life. He was born at Burnt Cabins, Pa., Sept. 23, 1860. His early schooling was in the little red school house at Burnt Cabins. A son of Elias Fraker and Mary E. Fraker, of an industrious German descent. Mr. Fraker early in life engaged in the hotel business, stock raising and dealing in stock; also in real estate; at present he has farming interests, banking and managing the local water plant, so that one can readily see at a glance that he is a very busy man. He has served on the school board for thirty years and on the election board several times. Three brothers and two sisters are deceased. In politics his party honored him by sending him to he National Democratic Convention at St. Louis in 1916; also to Huston, Texas, in 1928. For eighteen years he has been the President of the First National Bank of Orbisonia, and for three years its Vice-President; he is a member of the Presbyterian Church. His fraternity is membership in Cromwell Lodge, F.& A. M., No. 572; also Brotherhood Protective Order of Elks of Huntingdon, No. 976. In 1890 he married Adaline McGowan, of Burnt Cabins, and to this union was born one daughter, Helen Bredlinger, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; also one son, Julius Orville Fraker, who has been for twenty-nine years electrical engineer for the Texas Pacific railroad, located at Marshall, Texas. Mr. Samuel O. Fraker has farmed extensively in Blacklog Valley and Cromwell township, Huntingdon county. Hunting and fishing he delights in. An industrious and prominent citizen and one who takes an interest in the affairs of Orbisonia and his native county.
