WILSON GEIST Warriorsmark, Pa. Farmer: On a bronze tablet in the beautiful community of Warriorsmark is found enscrolled the names of those who offered their lives in sacrifice; a list of fifty-one names; sad to say, five names are marked with a star, denoting that they were killed in action. Among them living is that of W. Wilson Geist; he resides at Warriorsmark, Pa. W. Wilson Geist was a World War man. He enlisted at Gettysburg, Pa., United States Military Camp; joined Co. A, 4th U.S. Infantry, as private. At Gettysburg was made a corporal; went to Charlotte, North Carolina, to Camp Green; to Newport News, Virginia, to Camp Stewart; made a sergeant; sailed on transport (Mananaska); thirteen days one way; arrived at Saint Naisaire, France; went to Combey, France; to Marne River sector; in action, about sixty days at the Marne River sector; action at following places of which his medal shows: Aisne, Champagne-Marne, Aisne-Marne, St. Mihiel, Meuse Argonne and the defensive sector. Armistice signed when at Ligney; stayed till November 15, 1918; was gassed, hit with machine gun bullet, and also shrapnel; went to Germany, November 15, 1918; arrived December 16, 1918; with occupation troops at Plaidt, Germany. A service of eighteen months overseas; came back on (Kaiserin Victoria Augusta), a German vessel; discharged as Sergeant Major August 25, 1919, a Camp Dix, New Jersey. W. Wilson Geist was born at Graysville, October 13, 1895, born on a farm; preliminary schooling at Graysville; was a graduate of Warriorsmark High School in 1914; also the Penna. Business College, Lancaster, Pa. His father is F. P. Geist, who had two brothers in the Civil War. F. P. Geist is a retired farmer. He married Susan Kinch, and both are living at Warriorsmark. W. Wilson Geist was a bookkeeper at Pittsburgh, Pa. and Philipsburg, Pa. He has a farm of forty- five acres adjoining Warriorsmark. Both he and his wife belong to the Methodist Episcopal Church. A Republican in politics. He has two brothers, F.H. Geist, Warriorsmark; C.A. Geist, Warriorsmark. He has seven sisters, Daisy, Estella, Zella, Adeline, Angeline, Gladys and Loretta. W. Wilson Geist was married to Mildred Conrad, a daughter of John and Mary Conrad, both residing at Warriorsmark. They have on son, William Wilson, six years, and one daughter, Doris Marie, four years of age. Mr. Geist has had a remarkable military career. A pleasant man to converse with and well known.
