GREENLAND Colfax P.O., Huntingdon County, Pa. Postmaster: The Greenland ancestry dates back many years. The great-great- grandfather was Moses Greenland, and years ago, in 1856, Joshua Greenland was the Sheriff of Huntingdon County. The race of Greenlands has branched out to many sections, an industrious class of people. Miss Laura Greenland, the subject of this sketch, was born on a farm at Colfax, Huntingdon County, Pa. Her early education was acquired at the grade schools of Altoona, Pa. A daughter of Barton Greenland, who died in 1889, aged sixty-three, and of Susan J. (Baird) Greenland, the daughter of Theopolis Baird. She died in 1915, aged seventy-four. Miss Greenland is at present Postmaster at Colfax, Huntingdon County, Pa.; has been holding this position for the last seventeen years. Previously this office had been held by A.W. Wright, Oliver Brown and Joshua Heeter. She belongs to the Primitive Baptist Church of Trough Creek, known as the Huntingdon Church of Trough Creek Valley. In England are known as Strict Baptists. Miss Greenland supports the Republican party. Attends the Greenland reunions. Has three brothers, Curtis, Edwin, and Harry deceased.
