Insurance: He was born near Three Springs, Huntingdon Co., Pa., March 16, 1885. Early schooling at Wood Cutting School, Springfield Township; later at Rockhill Normal School, from 1904 to 1909 taught school eight summer terms of eight weeks each. Taught the Rock Hill eighth grade school for eight terms. At present time, 1929, is teaching in Cromwell Township. Engaged in farming; writing insurance, representing Northwestern Life Insurance Company, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and nine fire insurance companies; sells school supplies for Kurtz Brothers, Clearfield, Pa.; agent for tombstones and memorials for M. E. Pyle, Mt. Union, Pa.; Secretary of School Board for Cromwell Township, also of Orbisonia borough; Assistant Superintendent of Methodist Church Sunday School, President of McKendry League, and Trustee of Methodist Church, Orbisonia, Pa. Has taught Men's Bible Class, served on election board. Belongs to Masonic Fraternity, Cromwell Lodge No. 512, Orbisonia, Pa.; I.O.O.F. and P.O.S. of A. Has filled all the offices in the above named orders; at present Treasurer of I.O.O.F. Member of Grange No. 956, and member of the Orbisonia Deer Club. Owns a farm, a brother farming same. Hunting is his sport. Brothers are Allen, Simon, Silas, Elmer, Frank. Deceased, Harrison, John and Grant. Sister: Arilla, Susan, Hannah, Emma. Deceased, Cora. Married Mazie H. Starr. Children as follows: Vera and Grace attend High School; Freda, twelve years; Norman, nine years; Lena, four, and George, aged one year. A busy man is Henry Gutshall, a prominent citizen and one who takes a prominent part in the local affairs of Orbisonia and the surrounding territory.
