Hardware: The subject of this sketch, Carl Samuel Hagerty, was born at Waterstreet, Huntingdon County, Pa., September 11, 1895, of Scotch-Irish parentage, and at Shafersville schools received his education. A son of Lewis M. Hagerty, who died in 1922, and of Mary (Wicker) Hagerty, previously of Williamsburg, Blair County, was his mother; she died in 1897. At present is engaged in the hardware business, builders' supplies, roofing, paints, oils, etc. The business was first established in 1910 by his father. At his death the business was taken over by the above named; plumbing and tinning is also looked after. Carl Hagerty has been for two terms Borough Auditor, a County Committeeman now serving, Local Registrar of Vital Statistics, Births and Deaths; State appointment,. Belongs to Reformed church of Alexandria, Pa. A Mason, Mount Moriah, No. 300; Chapter, Standing Stone, No. 201; Knights Templar, No. 65, Huntingdon, Pa.; P.O.S. of A., Camp No. 699; William Weand Commandery (Military) Huntingdon, Pa. A Republican in politics. Has one brother, Kirk, married to Sarah Sullivan, Philadelphia, Pa. Two sisters, Vida, married to John Price, Williamsburg, Pa., and Grace, married to Chester Barmond, Norristown, Pa. Carl Hagerty was married to Ruth States, of Alexandria. One son, Carl William, born November 15, 1925. Mr. Hagerty is one of Alexandria's solid and substantial citizens.
