H. Hatfield Marklesburg, Pa. Freight Agent, Huntingdon and Broad Top R.R.: He was born at Huntingdon, Pa., January 26, 1871; began his preliminary education at Fourth Ward school. A son of Isaac R. Hatfield, a Penna. R.R. foreman, who died in 1893, aged fifty-two years, and of Katharine (Kuhn) Hatfield, who died in 1918, aged sixty-eight years. W. H. Hatfield attended the Huntingdon High School, was for eight years night superintendent of Tradesman Land Company Building, at Pittsburgh, Pa. For six years freight agent at Riddlesburg, Huntingdon Co., Pa., and for five years freight agent at Marklesburg, Pa. He was with the P.R.R. as shipping clerk at Pittsburgh for five years. In 1918 and 1919 was acting trainmaster for the H. & B.T.R.R., and during government control in the World War he was appointed train director for the H.& B.T.R.R. At present is freight agent for the H.& B.T.R.R. Co. at Huntingdon, Pa. He has been with this company for seventeen years. He is a deacon in the Lutheran church at Marklesburg Pa.; President of the old Stone Church Cemetery Association at Marklesburg, Pa. His wife also belongs to the same church. He is a Spanish-American War veteran; served throughout the campaign; was in Peace Jubilee Parade at Philadelphia, Pa., viewed by President McKinley. He is a charter member of the John C. Dunkle United Spanish American War Veterans; belongs to the Masonic Fraternity, No. 524, Everett, Pa.; Harrisburg Consistory; a Shriner, Jaffa Temple, Altoona, Pa.; Knights of the Golden Eagle, Raystown Castle, Riddlesburg, Pa.; P.O.S. of A., Marklesburg, Pa.; member of and Secretary of Council, Marklesburg, Pa.; Assistant Boy Scout Master, Marklesburg, Pa.; President of Civic Club, Marklesburg, Pa.; Laurel Run Hunting Club, and the American Automobile Association. He has one brother, G.F., Huntingdon, Pa., yardmaster H.& B.T.R.R. Sisters are: Mrs. C. E. Logan, Huntingdon, Pa.; Mrs. May Nicholson, wife of Samuel Nicholson, a P.R.R. official, Wilmington, Del.; he is deceased; Mrs. Jessie Leibensperger, married to Isaac Leibensperger, deceased, Columbus, Ohio, and a sister, deceased, Mrs. J.A. Greenleaf, Huntingdon, Pa. Mr. W. H. Hatfield was married to Anna M. Hetrick, a daughter of Samuel and Louise Hetrick. Mr. Hatfield has been a faithful official, takes an interest in civic affairs and a usefull man in the community where he resides, Marklesburg, Pa. Note: William H. (59) and Anna M.
