Manager Petersburg Hardware Company: George Miles Hawn was born at Petersburg, Huntingdon County, Pa., June 28, 1901, receiving his education at what was then known as the Warrior Ridge School. He was, however, set at work upon the farm early in life, and remained at home, employed in tilling the soil. Three years were spent in Ohio; balance of time was devoted to the farm. His father is Frank Hawn; they own a farm of 160 acres, of which 120 acres are cleared; balance wood land. His mother before her marriage was May Henry; they are of German descent, and both living. At present George Hawn is the manager of the Petersburg Hardware Company, and through his excellent management has succeeded in expanding this business to large proportions. He commenced to manage this business two years ago. Is a member of the Lutheran church of Petersburg, Secretary of Lutheran Council, attends Sunday School, member of Huntingdon Auto Club. Has two brothers, Fred, at home, on farm, and Lamer, a Sophomore at Petersburg Vocational School, aged fifteen years. Sisters are Margaret, married to Philip Anderson; Elizabeth, New Jersey; Byrd, school teacher at Hesston, Huntingdon County, Pa.; Esther, student at Shippensburg State Normal, graduated in 1929, at home. Mr. Hawn is a progressive business man, and makes every effort to keep in stock the needs of the public.
