HEFFNER Huntingdon, Pa. State Representative: Was born in Huntingdon County, Pa., in 1878. Resident of county all his life; attended public schools of Juniata Township, Huntingdon County, Pa. Father William W.; mother Cora M. (Geissinger) Heffner, residing in Juniata Township, Huntingdon County, Pa.; are farmers. Attended Juniata College, 1898-99 and 1901. Attended Rockhill Normal School, Marklesburg Normal School and U.S. Military School. Taught school, Entriken, Juniata Township and Penn Township. In mercantile business since 1913; manufacturer and jobber in lumber since 1905. Founder and President Huntingdon Wholesale Grocery Company. Elected to House of Representatives in 1926. Re-elected in 1928. Opposed firearms bill. Personally defeated Judges Parole Bill; favored entire Highway program. Has held an elective office since 1899. Belongs to Abbey Reformed Church; fourteen years President of Council; served on Election Board. For seventeen years belonged to National Guard of Pennsylvania, filling every position from private to commander, and retiring at his own request. Belongs to P.O.S. of A. Camp, No. 321, Huntingdon, Pa.; I.O.O.F., No. 117, Huntingdon. Is an Elk of Huntingdon; belongs to G.O. Party. A Rotarian and member of Fire Company No.2. Has four brothers: Bruce, married to Flo Gordon, Reading, Pa.; John married to Blanche Caufman, Reading, Pa.; Cloyd and Ralph, at home. Three sisters: Grace, Eva, and Esther, at home. Representative Heffner married Ida Miller, of Cottage, Huntingdon County, Pa. One son, Robert Merrill, at school, fifteen years of age; one daughter, Bernice M., thirteen years, attending school. He has favored legislation that benefits his constituents, and their interests receive his attention.
