Juniata Rolling Mills: A miller by trade and a sportsman extraordinary, Edward Hellyer was born at Puttstown, Huntingdon County, Pa., December 23, 1874. At Paradise Furnace he began his early training. A son of Edward Hellyer, who died in 1926, at the age of seventy-four years, and of Elizabeth (Putt) Hellyer. The town of Puttstown was named after the Putts. She died in 1927, aged seventy-six years. Edward Hellyer came before the general public in the years of 1919 and 1922, when he won the State Championship Trapshooting event at both contests. Tied the Fox National Competition with 850 competitors; has in his possession seventy-five prizes, cups, gold medals, etc. At present is engaged in the milling business near Alexandria, Pa., known as the Juniata Rolling Mills, and manufactures the well known Morning Glory Flour, and feed of all kinds. He has been a miller for thirty-six years. Has served on Election Board. A member of Reformed Church, Alexandria, Pa.; Benevolent Order of Elks, No. 976, Huntingdon, Pa.,; Modern Woodmen of America, Alexandria, Pa.; I.O.O.F., No. 286, Alexandria, Pa. A Republican in politics. Has one sister Lucy, married to B. F. Hoover, Hesston, Huntingdon County, Pa., a farmer. Edward Hellyer was married to Ida B. Stouffer, of Porter Township, Huntingdon County, Pa. Two daughters, Mary, married to Ernest Knott, Porter Twp,, is Vice-Principal Alexandria High School, for three years past; Ruth, deceased, fourteen years of age; died of black diphtheria. Mr. Hellyer leads a quiet life, is well known and a good sportsman.
