E. HOUCK Franklinville, Huntingdon Co., Pa. F. E. Houck was born in Warriorsmark Township, September 12, 1872. He was raised on a farm, attended the Warriorsmark Township schools. A son of Elisha Houck, a farmer, deceased, aged sixty-eight years, and of Mary (Price) Houck, deceased, aged eighty-two years. F. E. Houck, with the exception of five years, was a farmer. In 1929 he opened to the public the Franklin House, a hotel for tourists and the public, with all conveniences; also operates a lunch, ice cream and confectionery stand. This location is at the now famous historic Indian Cave, rich in Indian lore. He was formerly the owner of this cave. He has been assessor of the township; is at present Supervisor of Franklin Township. He is overseeer and secretary of the Franklinville Cemetery Association, Inc. On School Board of Franklinville. Was in the past a member of the Odd Fellows, P.O.S. of A., and Jr. O.U.A.M. He and his wife are members of the Methodist church, was formerly a Trustee. He has seven brothers: John S., deceased, aged sixty- five years; Henry C., of Bellefonte, Pa., a merchant; George W., Philipsburg, Pa., dairyman; William, a superintendent of one of the Harbison-Walker Brick Works, Philipsburg, Pa.; E. E., Squirrel Hill, Pittsburgh, Pa., Field Superintendent of Ginn Book Co., Harrisburg, Pa.; Ira, Graysville, Franklin Township, a farmer; Edgar, Wilkinsburg, Pa., electrician; Ralph F., foreman of the Westinghouse Manufacturing Company, in Pittsburgh. Sisters are: Anna, a widow, of Wilkinsburg, Pa.; Mary, Tyrone, Pa.; Susan, Wilkinsburg, Pa. F. E. Houck was married to Rose Reed, a daughter of John and Eliza Reed. Their children are Joseph E., married to Anna Johnson, Seven Stars, Pa.; Walter A., married to Sue Gensimore, Birmingham, Pa.; Jesse R., married to Jeanette Carper, Akron, Ohio; Margaret, Married to George Hildebrand, Birmingham, Pa.; William H. and Alice, at home.
