Postmaster: He was born at Dudley, Pa., January 31, 1905, a son of John Houck, with the Shannon Coal Company. He married Elsie Hess. Her brother, Abraham Hess, was a Civil War veteran, living at Santa Barbara, California. Both John Hess and his wife reside at Dudley, Pa. Marshall Houck was a graduate of the Dudley high school, class of 1922. He was employed with the Shannon Coal Company; was acting postmaster at Dudley, Pa.; was appointed postmaster on October 22, 1928. He is a Methodist, as are his parents. During the World War he was attending school, where he took an active part in school work as well as the sports that got to make up a school career. He is a Republican and is single. He has one brother, Homer, who is three years old and three sisters: Thelma, of Lewistown, Pa.; Margaret, twelve years of age; Ivalou, eight years of age, at school. Marshall Houck has made an efficient postmaster, thoroughly conversant with all its details, has given good service, is popular with the public and is well known. He is a young man with a brilliant future before him.
