Barber: Born at Black Log, Juniata County, Pa., December 30, 1877, on a farm; remained on farm till thirteen years of age. Received his education at Black Log. A son of George W. and Mary Jane (Lane) Huffman. The father died in 1927 and the mother in 1889. James Huffman early in life began the barber business and for thirty-five years, except at stated periods, carried on the barbering business. Was a barber and proprietor of billiard business at Saxton for twenty years. Conducted a service station in Smithfield township for four years. Employed with P.I.R. as a guard for three months; resigned on account of sickness; three years with P.R.R. He and his wife belong to the Methodist Church of Saxton, Pa. Has served on Election Board of Smithfield Township. Is a Democrat. Belongs to P.O.S. of A., No. 185, Saxton, Pa. and Maccabees, No. 409. Was a volunteer in Spanish-American War; enlisted at Huntingdon; from Huntingdon to Chickamauga, Georgia; to Lexington, Ky.; to Huntingdon for discharge. Is a member of the Major John C. Dunkle Spanish-American War Veterans' Association, Huntingdon, Pa. He has three brothers: Harry J., married to Tillie Kyler, Smithfield Township; William H., married to Sadie Parson, Findlay, Ohio; Charles M., married to Marie Hommon, Saxton, Pa. Sisters are: Ella, married to Ed. Livinghouse; Annie, married to William Bowman, Huntingdon, Pa.; Kate, Huntingdon, Pa.; Maggie, married to Waren Cox, Huntingdon, Pa. He is deceased. James Huffman was married to Blanche I. Little, Saxton, Pa., a daughter of Robert A. and Lizzie Little, of Saxton, Pa. They have one son, George Robert, a cinematographer; conducts a studio and laboratory at York, Pa.
