Merchant: Thomas Emery Huston is proprietor of Petersburg's house furnishing store, progressive in every respect. Mr. Huston was born at Hustontown, Fulton County, Pa., in 1886, and in the country schools and the Teachers' Normal School of McConnellsburg, Pa., received his education, which enabled him to teach two terms in Fulton county and five terms in Huntingdon County, Pa. Has taught at McConnellstown, Pa.; Frehns School, Maddensville, Union Church, and Bethel School, Huntingdon County, Pa. His father's name was Henry Huston; he died in 1911. His mother's maiden name was Mary J. Bratton, now living in Petersburg, Pa. The grandfather was Evan Huston, and his mother's father was Isaac Bratton, both deceased. Mr. Huston clerked for one year for James Heefner, after which he purchased the business and brought it up to a large and fast increasing business, which consists of house furnishings, groceries, provisions, and sells the Atwater Kent radio. He belongs to the I.O.O.F., No. 1162. Is a Mason, Mount Moriah, Huntingdon, Pa., No. 300; a Shriner, Altoona, and the Bloomsburg Consistory. A Democrat in politics. Brothers are Robert, of Hustontown, Pa., married to Ella Kirk; children, Ruth, Blaine and Mary; B. Earl Huston, of Petersburg, married Louise Salain; children, Florine, ten; Ralph, eight; Hazel May, seven; Alda, married to John Foster, Washington, D.C.; children, Patricia, one year; Mary, married to Joseph Chestnut, Hustontown, Pa.; children, Vaughn; Elizabeth, Married to Hayes Strait, Hustontown, Pa.; children, Clair, Orville; Fay, fourteen, and Thomas, eleven years. Mr. Thomas Huston, the subject of this sketch, married Zelda Roher, of Wilmerding, Pa.; one son of this union, Ray, eleven years of age, at school. Hunting and fishing are his sports.
