JOHNSTON Huntingdon, Pa. W. E Johnston Bottling Company: Three generations of the Johnston clan have come and gone from the Manor Hill section of the county. Over one hundred years have they inhabited this territory. The subject of this sketch, Mr. W. E. Johnston, proprietor of the W. E. Johnston Bottling Company, is among this generation. He was born at Manor Hill, Huntingdon County, Pa., October 18, 1895, a son of Robert Emory Johnston, and Idolette (Ewing) Johnston, the father dying on January 30, 1919,; the mother resides at Huntingdon, Pa. W. E. Johnston was raised on the farm, and remained on the farm until the age of twenty-three. He attended Juniata College in 1912; graduated at Pennsylvania Business College in 1914. Entered employ of Reeves, Parvin and Company as salesman, there for four years. Engaged in wholesale candy business for three years. Established himself in the bottling business three years ago, and has succeeded in building up a large and fast increasing business, reaching out into a large territory. He is a Democrat, President of Fire Company of Smithfield Township, Huntingdon County, Pa. In the hunting season is found in the woods with a gun. Was married to Martha Yocum, of Huntingdon, Pa. They have one son, Robert William, seven years of age, at school. Mr. Johnston is a wide-awake business man.
