T. JONES Huntingdon, Pa. Jeweler: Born at Cleveland, Ohio, December 20, 1890, a son of Charles Evans Jones, of Phoenixville, Pa., who has been a cabinetmaker for fifty years, specializing in cabinet and stair building. He married Elizabeth Thomas, of Malvern, Pa. The father of William Jones was a Civil War veteran. William J. T. Jones received his early education at Lamore, Colorado, and later on attended the public schools of Lancaster, Pa.; graduated from public schools of Lancaster, Pa. and deciding on a technical course graduated from the Bowman Technical School at Lancaster, Pa. He taught acetylene welding at the Tech School in Civil Service in the World War. He served two years and nine months as apprentice as auto machinist. He is a World War man; enlisted May 19, 1917, at Lancaster, Pa.; in aviation arm of the service; went to Augusta, Georgia; to Charlotte, North Carolina; from there to Brooklyn, New York; boarded transport (Patria); landed at Brest, France; went to rest camp for nine days; thence to Air Centre No. 2, at Romorantin; installed shops, air fields and hangars, shipped to different sections, which were Paris, Columbel, Etan, Metz, and all through Verdun sector. On October 26, 1918, he was wounded and gassed; was in Paris the day armistice was signed; returned to camp to finish up aviation work after armistice was signed; from there in line of service. He was in airplane crash; went to Base 94 Hospital in Air Center No. 2; was shipped to Savonary; from there shipped to St. Naizaire as a patient; landed as Base Hospital No. 3; Greenhut Hospital; from there to Base Hospital No. 31, Carlisle, Pa.; was discharged July 25, 1919. He is a member of the Frank P. Hommon American Legion Post, Huntingdon, Pa.; also the 40 and 8, Huntingdon, Pa. He is also affiliated with the Knights of Malta, Huntingdon, Pa. A Republican. He has one sister, Elizabeth S. Jones, Elwin, Pa.; one sister deceased, Mary, who died at the age of four and one-half years. He belongs to the First Methodist Church, Huntingdon, Pa.; in 1927 he engaged in the jewelry and watchmaking business; is constantly busy and carries a line of jewelry in neat and attractive designs. Hunting and aviation is his sport, and mounted on one of the walls in his jewelry store is the head of a bear which was shot by him in Potter County, Pa., a trophy of the hunt.
