Merchant: Born at Salemville, Bedford County, Pa., February 5, 1881. A son of Wilson Kagarise, a contractor and builder, who erected churches, houses, barns, etc. He died in 1895, aged forty-six years. His wife was Jennie Frederick, her father being a Civil War veteran; she resides at Salemville, Bedford County, Pa.; of German descent. For twelve years Arthur Kagarise was with the Penna. R.R., five years as inspector. For four years in the dairy business in Oneida Township, Huntingdon County, Pa. In 1917 he engaged in the mercantile business at Huntingdon, Pa. Both he and his wife belong to the Lutheran church; on Church Council for six years. Formerly belongs to the Fourth Lutheran Church of Altoona, Pa. He belongs to the Masonic Fraternity, Hiram Lodge, No. 616, Altoona, Pa.; a Shriner, Jaffa Temple, Altoona; Chapter, of Huntingdon; Commandery, of Huntingdon; Council, of Bellefonte, Pa.; also belongs to Modern Woodmen. A Republican. Has four brothers: Harry, married to Jane Reed, New Enterprise, Bedford Co., Pa.; William, married to Susie Wolfe, Salemville, Bedford County, Pa.; Preston, married to Fannie Trout, Altoona, Pa., and Levi, married to Ada Brumbaugh, Lakemont, Blair County, Pa. Three sisters: Bertie, married to Edward Diamond, deceased; she resides at Kerry, Bedford Co., Pa.; Daisy, married to Lewis Plack, Eldorado, Blair Co., Pa.; Clara, married to Chauncey Imler, Loysburg, Bedford Co., Pa. Arthur Kagarise was married to Anna Heeter, daughter of Huston and Mary Heeter. They have two sons, Norris A. married to Thessa Norris, Garwood, New Jersey; their children are William, Jack and Betty. Another son of Arthur Kagarise is Glenn B., married to Harriett Prough. They both assist in the store of the subject of this sketch.
