Engineer: John McClellan Kerr was born in Crawford Co., Ohio, May 30, 1881. His early schooling was at Bucyrus, Ohio; assisted his father, who owned a saw mill and was a dealer in lumber. His father was William Alexander Kerr, who died October 12th, 1912, aged fifty-seven years. His mother before her marriage was Amelia Grubb, who died in 1925, aged sixty-three years. John McClellan Kerr attended the Marsh Run School, Perry County, Pa.; also Pine Grove, Rural Township School, Perry County, Pa.; for a period of time was with the Harbison-Walker Silica Brick Company as brick setter; later with the Mount Union Extract Company as foreman and engineer, and on May 13, 1912, accepted a position with the Mount Union Wood Preserving Company, a subsidiary of the Penna. R.R. He is a member of the Methodist Church; wife also. He belongs to the Masonic fraternity, Mount Union, Pa. A Democrat. Has one brother, Orville, married to Thelma Shoop, Dry Run, Franklin County, Pa.; resides at Akron, Ohio; electrician, with the Goodyear Rubber Company. One sister, married to Harry Ferguson, Peru Lack, Juniata County, Pa. His wife is postmaster. One sister, Luella, died in infancy. John McClellan Kerr was married to Maude Geddis, daughter of William and Priscilla Geddis. of Dry Run, Franklin County, Pa. They have three sons. William, at home, a plumber; John, Jr., at home, a Senior, Mount Union High School; Leroy, at home, a Freshman, Mount Union High School. One daughter, Gerdilla, was married to Robert Crum in 1828. Mr. Kerr is a solid, substantial citizen, and well respected. He resides at 224 Shirley street. Note: The marriage date for his daughter is wrong, but that is what is in the book. - D.W.
