R. KIDD Mount Union, Pa. Watchman: J. R. Kidd was born at Clearfield, June 24, 1869; he is a son of D. R. Kidd, deceased, and of Mary (Baumgardner) Kidd; she is deceased; died in the spring of 1881. D. R. Kidd was for many years a farmer. He moved his family to Reedsville, Pa., where he was employed at the Mann Axe factory; he also helped to build the works at Burnham, or at that time was called Logan. J. R. Kidd received his education at Reedsville, Pa., and at the age of seventeen was farming, after which he was with the Speer White Sand Company at Mapleton for six years; he farmed for twelve years in Trough Creek Valley, and was a coal miner for nine years. He moved to Mount Union in 1912, but was employed at Bedford in the ore mines; returning, he was for one year at the General Refractories Company, after which he was with the Harbison-Walker Refractories Company; has been for the past fifteen years, at present in the capacity of watchman. He was married to Cora Rickabaugh, a daughter of P. L. and Rachel Ann Rickabaugh. Her husband is deceased; she is living at the advanced age of eighty-four years; they were farmers, and owned a farm. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Kidd have the following sons and daughter: William, in Bedford county; he married Linnie Naugle; they have two sons, Newton and Cecil; two daughters, Mary and Annadine; one son, John, is deceased, having died at the age of one year; also one child died at birth. Thomas, another son, was married to Gertrude Skipper of Mapleton Depot; they have three sons, Robert, Thomas and Earl, five years of age; also three daughters, Evaline, Nannie, and Myrtle. Russell Kidd was first married to Alda McCarl; she is deceased. He remarried to Anna Treece; they have on daughter, Connie; one son, Walter. Harry Kidd married Margaret Miller; they have three sons, Harry, Jr., Roy William and Richard; one daughter, Emma Grace. Roy M. Kidd, another son of J. R. Kidd, and Orpha, a daughter, are at home. J. R. Kidd and his wife are Baptists. He is a deacon in the church. In politics, they both believe in the doctrines of the Republican party. He served on the election board at Jacobs, Pa. He has two brothers deceased, Harry and Andrew. His sisters are: Mary, married to Wm. McCready, of Altoona, Cora, married to Robert Jones, of Breckenridge, Pa. J. R. Kidd is a member of the P.O.S. of A., Camp 346, Mount Union, Pa. Mr. Kidd is a much respected man, is well known, faithful and diligent. Note: John R. (62), Cora E. (59), Orpha M. (26), Roy M.
