Merchant: Edward Creveling Kimmel was born in Clay Township, Huntingdon County, Pa., November 25, 1890, a son of S.W. Kimmel, who was married May 14, 1874, to Maggie, daughter of John and Margaret (Cornelius) Kough. S. W. Kimmel died in 1923; he was born in Carroll County, Maryland, February 5, 1856, a son of Josiah and Rebecca (Barnes) Kimmel; Margaret (Kough) Kimmel died in 1910. Edward Creveling Kimmel received his early schooling in Saltillo, Pa.; assisted his father in the mercantile business for sixteen years; also worked on his father's farm, known as the Kimmel farm, 168 acres. At present is engaged in general merchandise business at Saltillo, Huntingdon County, Pa. He is a member of the Baptist Church of Saltillo, a Trustee and member of the Sunday School; also the Baptist Young People's Union. A Republican in politics. Has three brothers; John W., Phoenixville, Chester County, Pa.; Melvin, Phoenixville, Pa., and Frank, of Monessen, Pa. Edward Kimmel was married to Ruth Shope, of Saltillo, Pa.; have two sons, Edward Cyril, seven years, at school; Harold Shope Kimmel, four years of age. Hunting is his favorite sport. His place of business is well adapted and well arranged, and he has built up a large business by giving the public the service they demand. The Kimmels are an old, established ancestry, which has added stability to this section, and are widely known for their sterling integrity.
