LONG Mount Union, Pa. Proprietor Long's Planing Mill: Ray E. Long was born in Hill Valley, Huntingdon County, Pa., February 4, 1888, a son of David Long, a veteran of the Civil War, Co. I, Penna. Vol. Inf., who fought for seven days at Gettysburg, the decisive battle of the Civil War; also at Appomattox Court House; died February 20, 1912. David Long was married to Sarah Shaver, now residing at Mount Union, Pa. Ray E. Long was a carpenter at Pittsburgh for eight years; has been engaged in farming and saw milling for ten years. February 1, 1929, he took over the Baldwin Planing Mill and is operating same at the present time; carries in stock rough and dressed lumber of all kinds; has a saw mill and milling machines; has at all times cement, sewer pipe, plaster, bricks, etc.; estimates are given on all kinds of buildings. Both he and his wife belong to the Methodist Episcopal Church. He has served on the election board at Hill Valley, and is a Republican in politics. He has three brothers: Doris, of Mount Union: David, of Smith Valley, Huntingdon County, Pa., and Russell, of Mount Union, Pa. One sister, Olive, married to Orbison Hancock, of Hill Valley. Ray E. Long was married to Ella Grove, a daughter of William and Belle Grove, of Orbisonia, Pa. They have five sons: Thoburn, at Camp Mead, U.S. Government service; Earl, at home, a Sophomore in Mount Union High School; Richard, twelve years; Lester, seven years, and Kenneth, two years. Mr. Long resides in Hill Valley, a very busy man. His knowledge of this business enables him to give good dependable service at all times. This mill is thoroughly equipped with all that is necessary to fulfill any contract which, he may assume. The material carried in stock is first-class and prices are moderate.
