LONGACRE Mount Union, Pa. Business Manager: When a corporation desires to expand and improve its condition, it naturally looks about for a man of younger years, one who has broad ideas, and can put them into execution. This the management of the Juniata Valley Corporation and Juniata Valley Colony Club did. They selected a hustler, one of vision, and reference is made to Richard E. Longacre, their business manager. Richard Longacre was born at Mount Union, Pa., April 29, 1901, he being a son of Robert M. Longacre, a successful business man and banker of Mount Union. His mother's maiden name was Matilda C. Faust, daughter of the late R. J. Faust, of Mount Union, Pa. Both father and mother are living. Mr. Richard Longacre acquired his first insight in educational matters at the Mount Union grade schools, and continued on until graduation. Later on, believing that one should get more advanced education in a Pennsylvania educational institution, the State in whih he was born, he enrolled at Pennsylvania State College, located at State College, Pa. By close application to his studies and a desire to succeed, he graduated at that institution in 1924. Closely following his graduation he accepted a position with the United States Refractories Corp., looking after their shipping department. This position he held for two years, after which we find him in the general insurance field during the years of 1926 and 1927. At about this time the management of the Juniata Valley Realty Corporation and also the Juniata Valley Country Club recognized his ability, and he was chosen business manager, the position he now holds. During his administration this vast expanse of grounds and buildings has been improved and beautified until to-day this club can boast of the finest golf course, what might be termed a natural course. But going further into his career, he is President of the Mount Union Progressive Association, composed of the younger generation who desire to see the town's interests advanced. Earlier in his career he was interested in the Boy Scout movement and gave his time to that organization. He has one brother, Edward F., of Mount Union, Pa., in the general merchandise business. Richard Longacre belongs to the Masonic Fraternity and Knights Templar, and is an Odd Fellow of Mount Union, Pa. His college fraternity is (Omega-Epsilon), and as regards politics, adheres to the Republican party. He was married to Miss Ann Bodenhorn, of Annville, Pa. They have one daughter, Anne Marie, born in 1929. Mr. Longacre is a Methodist, as are all the Longacres; also an assistant teacher. Outdoor recreation is his delight. Golf, fishing and hunting, when time will permit. His position requires tact and good judgment, and these qualities he possesses.
