K. A. Machtley Warriorsmark, Pa. Truck Driver: C. K. A. Machtley was born in Bedford County, Pa., November 29, 1897, and at the schools of Ridgley, West Virginia, received his education. A son of Phillip Machtley, who was a foreman at a stone quarry, now living at Bedford, Pa., and of Mary (Burke) Machtley, who died September 27, 1916. Was a boilermaker helper at Pittsburgh, Pa.; also at Pittsburgh ran a locomotive crane for the Dravo Construction Company. He was employed by the State Department on road work; has been a truck driver; at present is with the Huntingdon and Centre County Telephone Company. Belongs to St. Marks Reformed Church at Cumberland, Md.; his wife is a Methodist, Warriorsmark, Pa. Is a World War veteran; enlisted at Coropolis, Pa.; to Chickamauga, Georgia; was there for three months; went to Camp Merrit, New Jersey; to New York, Base Hospital No. 5, went back to Camp Merrit; there one week; then to Camp Dix for discharge. He is a Republican. One brother deceased, Clarence Earlston, who died in 1925 at Cumberland, Maryland. C. K. A. Machtley was married to Elizabeth Frye, a daughter of C. B. and Rachel Frye; they reside at Warriorsmark, Pa. They have one son, Clarence Eugene, aged seven years, attending school. One daughter, Mary Ellen, aged two years. Note: C. K. Arthur (33), Elizabeth (27), C. Eugene (8) and Mary E. (3 4/12) Machley are listed in the 1930 Warriors Mark, Huntingdon County, census.
